So it's been quite a while since I posted anything on my blog, partly because I'm now travelling again for work (UC San Francisco) and partly because I really have nothing interesting to say - I guess that's pretty interesting right? I have been told that I bounce between extremes in many things and perhaps my communication is just another thing - sometimes I feel like texting everyone I know, posting all my thoughts to my blog, calling friends and family, etc. At other times I don't even answer my phone or texts or emails just because I don't feel like it.
So I have been reading Echart Tolle's first book, The Power of Now and I have been really impressed with it in many ways. It is quite a bit different than A New Earth since The Power of Now is organized more like a dialogue with questions and answers. Sometimes I get lost in this format since it kind of breaks up my thought process and I have to go back and re-read a lot. Of course, I've been pretty distractable lately, so I probably shouldn't blame the book. I haven't read the entire book, but so far I'd say that the most useful part of it is the 2 page description in the beginning of Eckhart recognizing enlightenment. It is such a powerful story - if you are ever in a bookstore pick it up and read the first few pages where he describes it and I guarantee you will be more at peace and happier than before.
We have been busy remodelling (lightly) the kitchen and my wife's scrapbooking room. The first is because our appliances have decided to stage a coup and crap out at the same time. The second is part of her 30th birthday present. The other part of her present is that we are going to go to San Francisco for four days next week - she will relax, shop and probably get a massage or two while I work. In the evenings we will go have fun in the city and hopefully eat a lot of great food.
